Did the Native Americans ever have their own variation of castles, like Europeans, Asians, or Africans did?

Most people know that in Pre-Colombian America; advanced Native states were typically city-states more than anything. While pretty intriguing and presumably very fortified for the time, did the Natives ever build anything like castles in their time?

If so, what are some (good) examples of this?

I think my earlier answer on siege warfare and fortifications on the Southern Northwest Coast might interest you.

Similarly, I would recommend "Native North American Armor, Shields, and Fortifications" by David E. Jones, which has compiled examples of Indigenous fortifications from New York to Alaska in addition to armor and defensive weapons.
