What are the large yellow markings on the side of the M8 Greyhound in WWII?

by HeadwoundHarry

I've been trying to find information of what they stand for specifically but I'm not coming up with much. The only peice of information I've found is that they only really used that lettering in early war Europe.

I'm asking because I'm building a model and wanted all the markings to be accurate, or at least meaningful to me. My highest hopes is for it to represent a unit that would have been plausible to fight the 28th Infantry.

Any info you might have would be great. Thank you!!!

You will need to provide a picture, as markings changed much over the course of the war.

My immediate thought, however, is that you're looking at a Constabulary Greyhound. See https://warwheels.net/images/M8greyhoundCONknox2010%20(2).JPG

This was in effect a military police/occupation force for Germany after the war, and would not be appropriate for the 28th in combat.
