I don't know about Iran, but my doctorate involved particular religious prayers in southern India. The wall I hit hard and fast was nothing useful was written in English-- then try going back a thousand years or so.

One thing that is very helpful now is that professors and lecturers are very excited to write to anyone who is interested. Do a bit of research, email, and find more people who know.
