How did the Nazis accurately identify the Jews? Is it possible they mistook many Germans for Jews? How did they verify Jewish ancestry to make sure they didn’t kill a random German?

I want to clarify I am in no way denying the Holocaust or supporting it, I just started wondering what if they incorrectly identified someone due to there not being a major difference between Germans and Jews look wise. It doesn’t make sense to me that they beloved in a blonde hair, blue eyed master race when everyone there had dark hair and dark eyes, making them indistinguishable from the group they were persecuting.

In short, the Nazi authorities did not identify Jews primarily based on appearance; they relied on documentation and to a lesser extent denunciation.
