The standard biography of Seleucus I Nicator was written by John D. Grainger: Seleukos Nikator, London 1990. There is now a newer biography by Lise Hannestadt: Nicator. Selucus I and his empire, Aarhus 2020.
The seleucid empire has in recent years gotten more and more into focus. A new comprehensive history of their empire, however, remains to be written. In this light, important works like Susan Sherwin-White / Mélie Kuhrt: From Samarkhand to Sardis. A new approach the Seleucid empire, London 1993 and Besalel Bar-Kochva: The seleucid army. organization and tactics in the great campaigns, Cambridge 1979 remain fundamental.
For the bigger picture, I recommend Edouard Will, histoire politique du monde hellenistique, Nancy 1966-1978 and especially the great Michael Rostovzeff, The social and economic history of the hellenistic world, Oxford 1941. Last but not least, though not concerned with the Seleucid period per se, but the most throughout account of the history of their realm, Pierre Briant, From Cyrus to Alexander, (transl. by P. T. Daniels) Eisenbrauns 1990, still remains an eye-opener for various aspects of the Seleucid history.
