Explorer. Governor of New York. Vice President. President. Rough Rider. It's Theodore Roosevelt, hopefully this will go better than the last time I hosted an event in Milwaukee. Ask me anything!

A couple of questions:

  1. As a New Yorker myself, I'm curious to know- what are some of the highlights of your time as governor of our home state?

  2. As a Jewish New Yorker, I have heard some disturbing things about your beliefs in eugenics and scientific racism, which apparently came to the fore in part because of the increased Jewish emigration of the late 19th/early 20th century. What were your motivations? What were your relationships like with Jews?

Mr. Roosevelt,

I have heard from many reporters that your daughter, Alice, has been fraternizing with the children of many of your political opponents and critics. Frankly, Mr. Vice President, it's not a very good look for you to claim you are anti-corruption and then for your oldest daughter to be seen at the race tracks with some of the children of the Four Hundred. How involved, exactly, is your family with your political career, and do you think that perhaps there may be some unresolved emotional issues with young Miss Alice that need to be addressed?

When you were offered the VP nomination, did you get the sense that you were being "promoted out of the way?"

Do you have any tricks for reading so much?

Did the establishment of the National Park Service have anything to do with Indian land policy?

How do you feel about being called "Teddy?"

Thanks!

Dear Mr. Roosevelt,

I've a question about your eyesight:

I was told that your famous safari hat was always by your side because within the hat's lining, you had sewn multiple pairs of extra spectacles.

Is that story true? And was there ever an instance where you lost/broke your glasses and did not have a replacement? When did you start carrying multiple pairs of glasses with you?

I understand your eyesight was poor, but how poor? Can you share your prescription?

Thank you.

President Theodore, are there any less well known facts about your trip here to the Amazon that you would like to share?

Mr. President, you are of course famous for the creation of the Pure Food and Drug Act, and lived through the last great Spanish Flu pandemic of 1918. Could you speak to your thoughts on the handling of the current pandemic, especially with regard to parallels between the two events, and also the skepticism that a minority in the country hold toward masking and vaccination?

Hey, I met your grandson! Tweed was an executive at a client of mine in Boston back in the 90's. He had a cool model ship of yours in his office.

Did you like models of ships or other things, either admiring or building them? What were your indoor hobbies, besides reading an entire book every night, that we might not know about.

Mr. Roosevelt, as a sportsman, what’s your opinion of those campers and ramblers like John Muir? Did you have a personal relationship with members of the Sierra Club or other preservationists? I can’t recall that any of them were members of the Boone and Crockett club, unless you count Aldo. Did you know him?
