It's 1250 BC, and I'm in Egypt. What year would I say it is? More broadly, how were years and calendars reckoned in New Kingdom Egypt?

I doubt Ramses II would have described himself as living "1250 years Before Christ", after all.

You would have said it was the 30th year in the reign of Pharaoh Ramesses II. Egypt was one of the many ancient cultures that used regnal years for counting.
