Today:
Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Sunday Digest (formerly the Day of Reflection). Nobody can read all the questions and answers that are posted here, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.
First, important update on the Weekly Newsletter: We've had some issues with the bot, and it isn't back up as of yesterday. Hopefully should be back up and rolling next week. Even when we don't send it out though, you can always check out /r/BestOfAskHistorians which is the side-sub we use to post the drafts / archive previous mailers. Its always worth checking that sub if you haven’t received the newsletter but are looking forward to that weekly hit.
Welcome back to another fantastic edition of the Sunday Digest! My favorite time of the week, offering up a glorious collection of all the history posts written this past week. We’ve got lots of good stuff, so dive on in, check out the usual weekly features, show some thanks to the hard working contributors, and more!
AskHistorians Podcast Episode 198 - History, the Internet and Social Media with Jason Steinhauer!
Tuesday Trivia: Music! This thread has relaxed standards—we invite everyone to participate!
There’s some good reviews in the Thursday Reading and Rec Thread!
Have some fun in the Friday Free for All!
That wraps me up for another day! Tune in next week for another fantastic collection, and I’ll see you next Sunday!
Sunday is also a chance to share those fascinating yet unanswered questions you still hope to see an answer to. Feel free to post your own, or others that caught your eye, and perhaps we’ll get lucky with a wandering expert!
/u/Unlucky_Sherbert_468 asked Many remember Andrew Carnegie because of his philanthropy. Are there any lesser known American robber barons of the 19th century who had a reputation more similar to Caligula?
/u/cyphr0s asked Have people in the past been conscious that their actions and the events they have lived through will be remembered throughout history?
