Does anyone have any resources to study death history/cemetery studies?

Such as sources, authors, or methodologies. Specifically on southern US black populations or West Africa

Not specifically African or African American, but the brilliant 1977 work by James Deetz, In Small Things Forgotten, has an excellent chapter on Puritan cemeteries. The book is such an important benchmark in the field of historical material culture and integrating it into historical studies that it would be well worth the short time it would take to read that section in this easily digestible book.
