Where’s the line between prehistory and history?

by Kafuf-1

More specifically do we know how many years ago did recorded history start? Or the approximate year BCE?

Well, depends...

In Short: oldest form of recording history/ text are the cuneiform tablets written around 5000-5400 years ago or 3400 BCE from Mesopotamia.

However, sometimes things are not as black-and-white as they appear. I'm a prehistoric archeologist in europe, finish my masters. for me prehistory ends when The romans invaded our small part of the world. so around 50BCE.
It's important not to forget that each region changes differently, so the existing of "the oldest written records" does not mean that from then on everything falls under "history"
