Did people ever counter accuse during the witch craze?

Like sort of a tactic to turn the case around on your accuser and hopefully not be found guilty? Something like “I’m not a witch, they are the witch and is only accusing me because I witnessed them consorting with the Devil and they didn’t want me reporting them!”

Surely it would’ve been worth a try to hopefully get out of an otherwise impossible situation?

I answered a question on the Salem Witch Trials couple years ago and in the follow ups someone asked a similar question. You can it here where I specifically talk about Ann Putnam Jr. naming 83 people as witches. TLDR- There were points where accusers were named but the authorities rarely followed up on it. Witch hunts are about power, and those initiating witch hunts tended to already be in positions of power or were able to create power through accusations to prevent being named themselves.
