In the lead-up to a duel, one of the parties to the dispute might consider "posting" the other by leaving a written record of his transgressions in a public place. Do any of these posts survive and to what extent did being posted harm a gentleman's reputation?

I do apologize as normally I'd be on this question like white on rice, but it came at an inopportune time so can't do it justice today. I have at least touched on Posting in the context of larger answers, so this one might be of interest, but doesn't quite do it justice.
