What would an average naval vessel during the Age of Sail have on board in terms of equipment?

by Ishmilach

I'm running a D&D game and I want a historical basis from which to equip my fantasy ships. But the internet has been unkind to my research, and everything I came across only mentioned cannons or how the ship would actually be built. But that's not what I'm looking for. I want to know what else would be on a naval craft right around the 16th century besides guns. Things like rations, personal belongings, tools, supplies, etc.

Any help is appreciated, thank you :)

I have 2 quick suggestions, go look at the Vasa ship museum's homepage and the Mary Rose museum page. Both museums have a wide array of items recovered from the shipwrecks and you can browse a lot of them through the web. Vasa is slightly later than your ask but most info will be useable. Vasa museum has a lot of info about life aboard and such, hopefully also in English, and I've not had a good rummage through the Mary Rose site but it looks like they also do. Should have you well enough provisioned for any D&D game.
