Is the repeated use of certain symbols throughout ancient civilisations proof that ancient colonies may have been far more global than we care to admit? Could there be lost civilisations that are lost due to the fact they didn’t exist only constrained to one location but instead were sea faring ?

Did you have any particular examples in mind?

Typically, claims of interconnected, trans-oceanic ancient civilizations are based on stripping individual bits of evidence from their context and then acting like that original context never existed to begin with. I've discussed some of that here. When you have thousands of years of an entire continent's history to pull from, it shouldn't be surprising that you can find examples of any one symbol or another.
