I’m watching The Last Kingdom on Netflix, and I can’t help but notice that the crown that King Alfred wears appears to have a fleur de lis on it. Is this just an oversight concerning historical fact, or was their some truth to this?
While much more can always be said on the topic, I mentioned the possible employment of fluer de lis by the "English" ruler in pre-Conquest England before in: The TV series "The Last Kingdom" depicts Alfred the Great as wearing a crown containing the fleur-de-lis. Was this symbol used by English monarchs before the Norman conquest?.
