'Return of the Obra Dinn' is a puzzle/adventure game set in 1803 on a fail voyage from England to Formosa. The Obra Dinn, a merchant ship missing for five years and insured by the East India Company, has reappeared off the coast of England with no one alive aboard.
The main objective of the game is to discover the fates of all souls. Apart from being a fantastic game, I wanted to know how realistic the diverse crew for time period really was. An Austrian Bosun with a French Bosun's Mate, four Chinese topmen working alongside Russians and Persians, a Swedish Steward, and American carpenters. Was this common for the time period or purely fiction?
See list for all entire crew (contains spoilers for the game): https://obradinn.fandom.com/wiki/Characters
While you want for answers, here's an earlier reply from u/Environmental-Cold24, albeit addressing the Dutch East Indies Trading Company rather than the British East India Company.
