How come unlike Continental Europe, Britain has kept its monarchy?

by BenettonLefthand

Republican movements were very strong in France, Italy, Germany and the rest of continental Europe and most nations on the continent are Republics. However the UK never saw republican movements arise, why is this?

Someone else can likely give you a better answer regarding why the UK still is a monarchy. However, it is worth noting that Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain and most of the micro states also are monarchies and that there are similarities in the reasons to why they did not turn into republics. Hence, your question is unfortunately incorrect and for a more complete answer can you benefit from a broader picture.
