Today:
Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Sunday Digest (formerly the Day of Reflection). Nobody can read all the questions and answers that are posted here, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.
Welcome back one and all to another fantastic, brilliant, amazing(!) edition of the Sunday Digest! We’re packed to the brim with some great history posts, spanning all kinds of subjects and fields. So grab yourself a refreshing beverage, get comfy, and settle down for some reading! Don’t forget to check out the usual weekly features, shower those hardworking contributors in thanks, and upvote your favorites.
Also a special thread! It is AskHistorians' ELEVENTH BIRTHDAY! As is tradition, you may be jocular and/or slightly cheeky in this thread!
There was a bunch of great discussions happening in Monday Methods: Politics, Presentism, and Responding to the President of the AHA.
And the Thursday Free for All!
Plus a very busy Friday Free for All!
And thus we come to a close once again history fans. Keep it classy out there, and we’ll see you next week!
From the Crime and Punishment theme, "How did members of the Weather Underground mostly escape punishment and rejoin the upper class/high status professions/whatever you want to call it? How "elite" were their upbringings, overall? got a lot of interest but no answers. Possibly related, I miss our Northwestern friend.
Sunday is also the best day to show some appreciation for those fascinating, yet overlooked posts. Feel free to post your own, or those you came across, and we’ll see if we can’t attract the attention of a wandering expert.
