In what way were the treaties following WW1 too tough on Germany? Were they really too much?

It is often said that the treaties were too much, and they only fed the resentment that the Nazi's grew from. Is this really the case? In what ways were they? Realistically, how should it have been different?

In short- it was the entire ruling aristocracy from each major nation that was at fault. In some respects it’s the worst family squabble in history. Putting it all on Germany was negligent in that none of the allied countries took any blame for the war when in reality they were as much to blame as the Kaiser.
