So I was looking around a few old threads and came across this comment by u/depanneur . This leads onto my question, was the US expansion westward similar to the Nazis plans for eastern Europe had they won WW2?
The main things I'm curious about are:
How similar were their genocide of the native population?
Was Americas expansion driven by a desire to completely destroy the Native Americans like the Nazis goal to eradicate slavic people?
Did the Nazis look towards the US for inspiration for their East Europe plan?
This seems to be a fairly controversial issue, and caused some debate (link here) between u/Yamureska, u/Kelpie-Cat, and u/Bad_Empanada (of all people) when it was asked last year. Some time before that u/commiespaceinvader also wrote a great answer about it in this thread
