I know many people have asked this question many times over history, but I still want to pose it to see what answers I’ll get on here.
You are correct, this gets asked here a lot. The general consensus is that a mystical preacher was probably born in the 20s BCE around 4 CE, had a ministry and attracted followers, and those followers saw him as divine and created a religion based on his teachings. Whether or not he was the Son of God, etc., is not up for historians to decide -- that's what the theology department does.
