how is it the USMC has only surrendered three times?

So I've read the marine corps has surrendered 3 times in there entire history and each time was by a non marine commanding officer. How is that when all other branches have done it a lot more times? So to help get a better answer I should have added that I meant like platoon size or bigger I guess. I was reading this and the first comment is the one that made me wonder this question.

Just to clarify: individual Marines and Marine units have surrendered a lot more often than three times in their history. 221 US Marines were captured by enemy forces in Korea alone, generally either alone or in small units. While each soldier described in the link did everything they could to avoid capture, many had to at some point surrender rather than being killed.

Perhaps OP can define what they mean by "the marine corps has surrendered"? Is there a minimum unit size they have in mind?
