Did the Ancient Greeks believe there were demigods alive in their own present day? Did anyone ever claim to be the child of a god, and if so did people ever believe them?

There were some rulers who were claimed to be the sons of gods, though it was more common for them to claim a god as a distant ancestor, or to be given divine honours/worshipped. I discussed this a little in this answer, and it has been explained in more detail here by u/xenophontheathenian
