What Was Living in Berlin in WW2 Like?

by North_Atlantic_Pact

Post Nazi rise, before Berlin was captured late in WW2, what was life like for the average citizen in Berlin? Was it clean or dirty, safe or full of violence? How much were they impacted by front lines vs trying to pretend to have a metropolitan European life?

Post Nazism, Germany was still reeling from the loss of WW1 and with that brought hefty economic issues. Despite this, Germany, and Berlin in particular, was an extremely advanced place to live when it came to the arts, culture and sexual freedom - particularly between the years of 1924 and 1929. I recommend doing some reading into the Weimar Republic - the German government up until Hitler took power. and it's 'Golden Years.'
