Are there any books that links the history of Byzantium, the Orthodox Church and the adoption of the Kings of Russia?

  • Meyendorf, John. Byzantium and the Rise of Russia: A Study of Byzantino-Russian Relations in the Fourteenth Century. Cambridge: Cambridge UP, 1981.
  • Obolensky, Dimitri. The Byzantine commonwealth: Eastern Europe, 500-1453. New York: Praeger, 1971. https://hdl.handle.net/2027/heb05032.0001.001

These are the classic studies of OP's topic, though recent non-Russian (Anglophone) scholarship like Christian Raffensperger who also AMA'd in /r/AskHistorians recently instead tend to re-evaluate Kyivan Rus' (at least down to about 1200 CE) connection with Latin West rather than "Byzantine Commonwealth", as I also suggested in: What were the relationship of Rus' principalities after the 10th century with Latin Europe?.
