What were the economic and military implications of the Holocaust for the nazis?

by Exciting-Fall4070

I’m sure someone asked about this before, but to what extent did the effort expended by the Nazis in the Holocaust detract from their war effort and their overall economy, once we factor in the gains from forced labour? And more in general, was there ever an “economic rationale” to the Holocaust?

Here's the thing. By framing the Holocaust and the war as separate, you're misunderstanding things. To the Nazi leadership, the Holocaust was the war; the war was the Holocaust, and they are not separable.

u/commiespaceinvader addresses why we shouldn't think of them as separate, and u/warneagle also addresses the matter.
