Yesterday Christmas came early when I received "Armour of the English Knight Volume 3: Foreign Armour in England" by Dr. Tobias Capwell in the mail. It includes an incredible wealth of detail and a lot more notes about my particular time research interest, the armour industry, than previous volumes, which were already a treasure trove. It also offers scholars a model for studying what armour was actually worn and what it looked like during the Middle Ages. It raises some intriguing questions as well, like where did the fashion of heavily fluted armour start (probably not in the German lands!)
