Are there any records of a concentration camp population trying to revolt against the Nazi's?

by UnfitSimplicity

During the Nazi Regime were there any records of the camps populations in mass numbers scheming or plotting to rebel against the Nazi's by either over taking the camp, attacking the guards at mass or alternatively taking a mass protest such as sabotage? If there were instances of this, where they able to carry through with it or were they discovered beforehand?

I recognise that other than sabotage there won't be too many individuals or groups who would have tried to revolt, due to immediate swift punishment, no probable escape, as well as their own health and fitness at the time playing a part in attempting something like this. However, I am curious if anyone knows of any instances?

There's several significant instances. In Sobibor extermination camp most famously, a group largely consisting of resistance fighters and Jewish Red Army prisoners attacked SS guards and escaped, of whom more than 50 survived the war. The leader of this group, Felhandler was killed 2 years later in Soviet-captured Poland, likely by Polish Nazi affiliates. A Red Army officer who helped organize the escape survived the war but was shunned by the Soviets in an antisemitic campaign.

In Treblinka and Auschwitz extermination camps, the Sonderkommandos (Jewish prisoners used as slave labor to dispose and burn bodies of fellow prisoners) revolted frequently and were usually put to death after a month to prevent this. Few Sonderkommando accounts exist, many of the survivors committed suicide or lived in self-isolation, but a few survived the Treblinka revolt and escaped, some wrote memoirs or accounts.

There were also many revolts and uprisings in Ghettos, most famously Warsaw Ghetto but also significant fighting occured in Lublin Ghetto. In Minsk Ghetto, the Judenrat assisted partisans until he was hung to death. His successor continued but the Ghetto was liquidated, I understand there was minor fighting in most Ghettos, fanously in Vilnius Ghetto much debate was held regarding this as death camps weren't known at the time
