As a follow-up question (past 12 hours since OP):
I have heard secondhand of a Native American legend of the “dead man walking,” i.e. the extreme danger posed by a multiple-vortex tornado (the twister in this case has multiple “legs”). But is there actually 1) primary source evidence of the existence of the legend, and 2) did the Native Americans in question actually understand that multiple-vortex tornadoes are more dangerous than ones with only a single visible condensation funnel?
(If you want to learn more about the most famous “dead man walking” tornado, I recommend this video about the 1997 Jarrell TX tornado: https://youtu.be/wmPlj5GOZh4)
