What was the diet of Roman gladiators?

by usedtobesofat

Reading in another sub and someone confidently stated that Roman gladiators were usually vegan. Is this true? Did the diet change over time?

As an addition, I would like to note that the article by Grossschmidt and Kanz referenced in the previous answer provides negative answer to the question in the title, as two examined skeletons bore signs of consumption of animal products that is distinctly different from characteristics of other 20 remains. Authors interpreted it as a proof that these two were remains of people who most likely arrived from somewhere else, where diet was different from the one dominant among Ephesus gladiators or possibly Ephesus residents in general.
