Today:

Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Sunday Digest (formerly the Day of Reflection). Nobody can read all the questions and answers that are posted here, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.

Tis a very special indeed for many people around the globe, and hopefully it gets to be just a little bit more special for you right there, because you get another fantastic edition of the AskHistorians Digest. I’ve been up all night for entirely separate reasons, and what better way to spend the time then by drafting up some phenomenal history for you to read as the year comes to a close. Only one more week to go!

As always, don’t forget to check out the weekly faves, upvote your favorites and shower those hard working contributors with praise!

And this ends the digest streak for the year 2022. We have one more week to go, but the next Digest in our history will be a whole year away! Stay safe out there everyone, stay warm/cool depending on where you are, and I’ll see you all again in the New Year. Thank YOU for making this such a beautiful place to be online.

For one last time in the year 2022, we show some love for those awesome eye catching but overlooked questions that still cry out for the attention of an expert. Maybe we’ll get lucky one last time as the year ends, and the right person will wander by at the right time.
