Did the Vikings ever raid Germany/ East Francia?

by _Apolllon

When people talk about Viking raids, it is mostly about Britain, Ireland and the baltic area, although the area of present-day Germany or the Dutch coast would have been very easy to reach, especially for the Norsemen living in Denmark. Are there any records of raids in this area?

While more can always be said, these previous post by mine might be interesting to OP:

the Dutch coast

Frisia and its trading posts like Quentovic and had in fact been prospered in the hub of the North Sea economy since the late 7th century, and the Vikings repeatedly attacked in the first half of the 9th century onward. Frankish rulers in the 9th century also sometimes "granted" a few ex-Viking leader to Frisia as a kind of enclave against other raiders (Coupland 1998).
