The typical look of Ancient Romans is a toga with a sleevless tunic, and no pants. I’ve always read that this was because the Mediterranean climate was warm, so they had no need for sleeves and pants, and these became associated with the barbarians north of Italy, where it gets cold. By the Middle Ages, people all over Europe are wearing tunics with sleeves and pants. When and why did this change happen?

Many languages have organizations which regulate their development, but English does not. Why is this the case? Where there ever serious pushes in the past to create one, and if so, why did it fail?

I've come across sources that both either dismiss the theory as mostly fiction or claim that martial arts and military strategy was passed from ancient India to the East.

It seems that most soldiers today experience some sort of PTSD. Did soldiers wayyyy back (swords and arrows) experience PTSD? Were they just tougher or did nobody care to write their symptoms down?

What would my life be the next day after the dissolution? What about a year later? What about 2 years later?

The british had prior experience in putting down communist insurgencies and knowledge of jungle warfare gained in the 1st Malayan emergency. So why didn't they offer their support in the vietnam war.

The US on the otherhand bieng a close ally to the british, and the pioneer of the domino theory. It would make sence that they would support the fight against the communists in then-malaya. Or if they did, how much support did they give and where.

Since Japan was an allied nation during the First World War, it seems like the answer should be obviously not. But recently, I actually read the Zimmermann Telegram for the first time and was surprised to see this passage:

Where did Zimmermann get the idea that Japan could be induced to declare war on the US? Was this something that people at the time would have considered plausible? What were Japanese-American relations like during the war and how did this impact them?

I've been rooting about for sources on these late-twentieth-century conflicts (whose repurcussions arguably continue onto today) that focus on:

1. the civilian side of the conflict
2. views by people fighting on both sides
3. a few memoirs (preferably translated into english- I don't speak russian, serbian or anything like that-)
4. a comprehensive view on the after-effects of the war.

I read a good comic made up of a guy who made comics or something in Sarajevo before the siege hit, and then got evacc'ed by the UN after some dudes in the United States did some string pulling and I'm trying to find that again.

I'm also looking for some books on the soviet war in afghanistan, or a documentary (preferably available online) of some sort that looks at the war. subject matter is the same as above.
