Why Hungary became Catholic and not Orthodox?

The first christian mission to Hungary was Orthodox. On top of that, Hungary was situated closer to Constantinople than to Rome. It also got christianized at the time when Byzantium was at its peak since the Arabic expansions. So why did Hungarian rulers chose to get baptised in Catholic order as opposed to the Orthodox one?

EDIT:

Did it have something to do with the native people of Carpathian basin speaking a Romance language at the time of conversion?

During Mussolini’s reign over Italy, did they have any weird politics or policy’s that made them stand out or different from Nazi Germany? Like anti-Semitic laws or racial segregation?

How would Jesus as the son of a carpenter in a backwater have been able to speak Latin well enough to converse with Pontius Pilate? Pretty sure they didn't have latin classes in Bethlehem schools.

How do Historians know about what was the population, mortality rate, birth rate, etc of the past?

I have often seen how many people say that mortality rate is very low in modern times than in the past, that people die because of illness much less today than in other times in the past. I have also seen graphs of world populations from as early as 10,000 BC. How do historians know these information?

Is there any evidence of music that sounds similar to modern or classical rock, that was created prior to 1900s, or earlier, even if it wasn't mainstream at the time?

EDIT FOR CLARIFICATION: I don't expect there to be anything like electric guitar, or from instruments that didn't exist. However, both pianos and other stringed instruments existed that sound similar to modern acoustic sounds. Essentially for both of those types of instruments, but nothing that sounds to what we might interpret as classic music. To be even more specific, anything that matches the overall tone, beat, tempo, etc. of rock (or similar). I've never actually heard any music from before the 1900's that didn't have a classical or 'old-timey' vibe to it, hence why I'm curious if there was even anything that would have been ahead of its time.

Aztec Dissertation Question

Hi guys, I’m new here but I’m a History major just finishing their second year at University in the UK.

Next year I’ll be writing my dissertation, which I had chosen to base around the question of the motivational factors of the Aztec flowery wars. Having done my literature review, however, I feel like there isn’t really a lot new that can be contributed to this debate and that it’s going to be difficult to complete a 15,000 word piece on because of that.

My problem is therefore finding a new area to base my dissertation around. I’m really keen to use Aztec warfare or maybe religion as my general area but I’m really struggling to find any specific subtopics within this that are currently open to debate/havent been covered extensively by other historians.

I wondered if anyone here could give me any guidance, as I’ve tried asking my supervisor but her response was essentially just to read more books. Ive no problem with this, but I feel like it’d be a lot more useful if I had an idea of what debates/subtopics to base my reading around instead of reading every history book on Aztec warfare or religion.

Did Captains actually ram ships in battle? (1600’s - 1700’s)

I’m playing the Naval Missions on Assassin’s Creed III Remastered, and I’ve bought a Reinforced Iron Ram for the front of the Aquila and it made me wonder if Captains actually did that.

The USA had a large percentage of German immigrants in the early 20th century. What was life like for them during WWI and WWII? Did many serve the Allies or did any go back to the “Fatherland”? Also why did the US sell to the British and not the Germans before they entered both wars?

Other questions that would be interesting are:

How did the government convince German immigrants that their new country was going to war with their homeland?

Was there any camps? Like the Japanese after Pearl Harbour.

Was there any German related Terrorism on US soil?

How did non-German citizens treat them?

How did the Jewish population act towards the Germans in cities like New York, were the communities were very close?

I understand that the US entered both wars at a late stage. Why did the USA sell to the British and not the Germans?

You get the gist. There must of been millions of Generational and German born citizens in the States at the time. What was their life like?

Why did the natives side with the Spanish conquistadors?

I understand they sided with them to overthrow the Aztecs, but I don't understand how they couldn't fight back when the Spanish tried to take over them. I've read here there were 200,000 native allied soldiers. That's got to be enough to stop the Spanish taking the rest of Mexico over, right?

The kanji writing system in Japanese derives from a historical communion between ancient China and Japan. Do we know what the candor of this relationship was like? Were the ancient Japanese welcoming or wary of incoming Chinese diplomats? How did that change through each passing century?

How did Julius Caesar manage to track down and capture his pirate kidnappers? Was he able to capture every one of them or did some evade his capture?

This was a time before satellites and advanced surveillance methods. People frequently ran away and could not be tracked.

Yet in such a time Julius Caesar managed to capture his kidnappers. Can someone describe how he did that?

Also, did he manage to capture everyone of them or was he never able to track some of them? It seems highly unlikely he would have been able to track every one of them given the near impossibility of such a feat.

Were the use of the atomic bombs justified?

For my 12th grade assignment I have this question in my ‘modern history’ class if the use of the atomic bombs on Japan’s two cities were justified or not. We have to make a presentation and what not. My argument is ‘Yes’ they were justified, and any sources and arguements FOR the subject would be appreciated, ESPECIALLY medical data. Also, I was wondering if anyone had any good arguements and sources I could possibly use which are “For”, it is 5-7 minutes, extremely easy, but I want to have a number of strong arguments. I’ve already handed in a draft, but if anyone has any other strong arguments or sources, they would be greatly appreciated. I definitely need sources on medical data about the results as I do want to have a legitimate arguement, with actual data, as I have only found one medical source about the post bombings. Thanks.
