Why is the color Red and Blue considered opposite in human culture?

Here are the following list of such phenomenon:

  1. Roman Optimates faction used blue as color, while Roman Populares used red.
  2. Minamoto clan during Genpei war used blue-white colors from Rigel to represent them, opposed by Taira clan that used orange-red colors of Betelgeuse.
  3. The Byzantine Empire traditionally used purple and blue, while a new rising powerhouse, the Ottomans adopted red.
  4. Most famously perhaps, the identifying color for NATO is blue, and those of Warsaw Pact was red.

I do get blue usually represent Nobility and Red represent Commoners, but are there any research on this?

During the Spanish Civil War how did the Nationalists, notorious for their brutality towards defeated Spanish Republicans, treat captured foreign fighters?

I'm half way through reading Paul Preston's 'The Spanish Holocaust' and it seems that it was fairly regular practice for captured Spanish opponents of the Nationalists to be subject to brutality including abuse and execution, but were captured foreign fighters including from Western countries like the US and UK treated the same?

Death By Arrow - Really?

Good evening Ask History. I was watching Game of Thrones in prep for the new season release and I started wondering about the true lethality of arrows.

Excusing a perfectly aimed shot to the face / skull, what is the real lethality of a longbow? I ask as modern munitions are designed to tumble through the body or fragment to create massive trauma, where as an arrow contains a reasonably fine tip and narrow shaft. Aside from the aforementioned perfect shot, was the focus of archers designed to prevent troops moving through an area for threat of being wounded or were archers really the ancient pre-curser to the postcode snipers (artillery) that we have today?

Thanks for your time!

What are the factual errors in the Troy in England theory?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Where_Troy_Once_Stood
Please, before you answer, read at least the Wikipedia entry.
I want to know why this theory is always discarded. The argumentation looks sound to me, as far as I can see, (I haven't read the book yet, because I don't have it), but it's deiscarded everywhere, only I haven't seen reasons why it's discarded, other than 'we have found Troy, and it's in Asia Minor', which is a ridiculous argument by itself, because we only assume it's Troy because we assume that Troy is in Asia Minor. As far as I know there haven't been any ancient signs that read 'This city is Troy'.
So please tell me, where is the Troy in England theory failing? Which mistakes does it make?

So I’ve been in an argument with a friend and I’m under the impression that they didn’t have either.

Also this would be all of the America’s, north central and south.
