Looking for good historical sources, papers, or lectures on the Danube Swabians (Donauschwaben).

Most of what I have found and read are anecdotal accounts regarding their forced expulsion from Yugoslavia following the end of WWII. Can anyone recommend any detailed history covering the origins and establishment of the Bannat region as part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, the multiple migration/settlement periods, as well as life culture and politics all the way up to expulsion. Many thanks in advance for advice and recommendations.

Why was God referred to as a "King" and Heaven as a "Kingdom" at the same time that temporal Christian rulers held titles of "Emperor" and ruled over "Empires", which were considered above Kingdoms?

Edit: Why is this so popular.

What was lost when the Library of Alexandria was destroyed?

The claim that decades of culture and advancement were destroyed is usually considered exaggerated or completely untrue, as far as I've seen. If that is the case, then what was lost?

Was Brutus Caesar's son?

in Suetonius' history of "the lives of caesars" he suggests that Brutus was Caesars son. Suetonius says that Caesar had an affair with Brutus' mother and that after being stabbed he said to Brutus "you too my son" not "you too brutus."

Is this backed up by any other contemporary roman histories/accounts? is this account accepted by any reputable experts? what else has been written about this? thanks.

Why is it that I can not find any information about Alexander the Great's Empire? Is it because Alexander's sudden death meant that all the conquered lands outside of Macedonia were never consolidated into an "Empire", or are there no source to draw from?

I recently learned that white southerners could take out a "mortgage" to purchase a slave on credit. How did emancipation affect these lines of credit? Is there any link between these creditors and Jim Crow practices that entrapped former slaves in indentured servitude?

Also, how exactly did the process of taking out a loan for a slave work? How much assets did the aspiring slave master need?

U.S. WWII Destroyers Self Sacrifice

Hi all, first time posting here. I'm researching something for an upcoming project, revolving around a story my grandfather, a naval WWII veteran, used to tell me before he passed. He said after the war ended, on their ride home, his destroyer was instructed to weave in an out of the path of the aircraft carrier behind them, so that any remaining mines would, if missed by their shooters, sink their ship rather than the expensive aircraft carrier. Do any WWII historians know of similar stories to this? I've had trouble unearthing more info on this so far. Any leads would be hugely appreciated!

Is there more information available about Black Casear the Pirate?

He was an African slave who escaped and eventually became a crew member aboard Blackboard ship, Queen Anne's revenge. Does anyone know any articles/books which discuss him in depth? As an escaped African who eventually became a crewmember aboard Blackbeards ship, and not a slave, does this show "Pirates" were more egalitarian than the rest of society despite being seen as degenerate outcasts?

During WW2, as Japanese-Americans were sent to internment camps, how did other Asian-Americans fair at this time?

Any books/resources on the European Witch trials records?

If possible, I would love to see records off the accusations and the executions. How short were the trials, what amount of testimony was needed to lead to a guilty verdict. Information like that would be massively helpful.

What do we know about the Edeljude in WWII Germany?

I read a recent TIL thread, describing the Hitler family doctor, Eduard Bloch, whom Hitler had named an Edeljude (Noble Jew).

How did the Nazi's justify this, given their rampant hatred of the Jews?

Who else got this distinction and why? How were they treated in comparison to others in Germany, Jewish or not?
