Also, where can I find reliable photos of wedding dresses (particularly Anglo-American ones) from the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries?

What made them settle on 3/5, not 2/5, 1/2, etc? Why 3/5 in particular?

The people of the Appalachian mountains are often represented as being inbred and backwards. Was incest as common among these folk as is often suggested in jokes and media?

I know torture does still exist. I know even our modern governments likely do it. I mean the medieval public stuff. Why can't I throw rotten tomatoes at people in stocks etc?

As far as I know the only way to "become" member of Judaism is to be born as one - and that's main question that bother me - how can one "nation" (or better to say a larger number of people) "accept" Judaism? What is the history and theology behind this conversion of Khazars somewhere in 8th/9th century?
Also, I have read there is theory that a lot of Jews today actually descended from those converted Khazars - is it true or not? What are the arguments?

I know that soviets were not bound by the Geneva Convention during the second world war. Why did they not sign it? What was their argument?

Is it correct to see the Boshin war as a conflict between a pro-imperial faction that wanted to continue isolationism (joi chokumei) yet fully embraced westernization (dress, strategy, technology) and a pro-shogunate faction open to western ideas but was technologically backwards and traditionalist?

A world war II short film that depicts the true nature of warfare and firefight engagements.
The film events circle around the Volturno Line in the battle for Italy
We are students making this film on a low budget while trying to remain as historically accurate in the process. we are currently in the process of trying to crowd fund the rest of this film, we want to expand the project size and scale to make it a truly amazing short film that will be 15-20 minutes long. we have attached links to the two scenes we have completed as of now.
we would love to get feedback on our project so far please leave comments on what you think.
thanks so much - Across Volturno Crew

How is it that Monday through Friday became the days most students in America go to school? And why five days rather than four? Was it unionization in the nineteenth century that led workers to opt in for a similar schedule for their kids?

Was it already considered pseudoscience in the 30's among academics or did these ideas have the support of professionals.

Love the sub. It’s one of my favorites. However, it drives me crazy sometimes. I can’t tell you how often I’ve clicked on questions with 20+ comments to be disappointed with “removed,” “deleted,” or just nothing there. Talk about major bummer and a waste of a click.
It wouldn’t be a huge issue except it happens way too much. You can’t have a sub focused on giving great answers without a way to focus readers on those well written answers.
While I believe this sub is well modded, I think this is an annoying trend and can be improved.
What are the proposed solutions and when are they going to be implemented?

I watched a documentary, which I can no longer find, that said that the US Army logistics were very bad by the end of the second World War. Is this true?

I have limited knowledge of the Abbasid Caliphate, but from my general understand the Seljuks conquered the area and the caliph was just resigned to a ceremonial rule without much power. The sultan was the real person with power. So why the 11th century not viewed as the end? I'm just confused how Baghdad could be considered a part of two empires at the same time.

I’m curious as to what would be entailed in a wedding during the late 18th century/early 19th century in New England. What type of food would be served, how many guests would attend, where would it be held? What traditions would be observed?

My understanding is that in these times it was not uncommon to observe many more holidays than are commonly observed in the west, various saint's feasts and religious holidays among others, what was it like to celebrate holidays for an average person?
