I've read many historians discuss how the Marian reforms allowed Caesar's march on Rome, and while that makes a lot of sense I'm apprehensive to say there's simply one contributing factor. What were the other factors that lead to the republic's fall?

The Germanic tribes that conquered the Western Roman Empire adopted Christianism, therefore abandoning their own Pagan beliefs. In some cases they even started to speak Latin. I don't know if this case is unique in history, but it seems that conquerors are more tending to impose their own religion and language to the conquered. For example, Spaniards imposed Christianism and Castilian to American indigenous, and also to their African slaves who usually were Muslims or Animists. The Turks imposed Islam when they conquered the Byzantine Empire.
I once even read that, had Attila conquered the Western Empire, it could've been the end of Christianism. What made the Germanic different to the Huns, as we are able to suppose that they wouldn't have adopted Christianism? What made them different to the Arabs conquering North Africa or the Turks conquering the Eastern Empire and not adopting Christianism (imposing Islam instead)?

Is there a starting point for all the information we have?
What is the earliest thing I can learn about science?
What resources are available and how does someone access them?

I was told it was an escape knife kept in the collar of the SS. Here are some images of it: https://imgur.com/a/mLZHk
What does that serial number mean? Is it authentic or not? How can you tell? Thanks for helping me figure out the story behind this - hopefully there is one!

I've seen some tweets circulated around suggesting that Ursula's design was based on the drag queen Divine, but have been unable to find any primary sources or actual quotes to back it up. The closest I got was a line in From Mouse to Mermaid: The Politics of Film, Gender, and Culture about how animator Ruben Aquino supposedly based her character design on Divine, but I haven't been able to find any actual interview with him or text where he actually says that was an inspiration. I was largely just wondering if the assertion was true or if it's another case of people trying to insert backstory where it doesn't exist.

I'm a second-year student and currently writing my undergraduate dissertation proposal. I'm pretty stressed as I'm stuck on what to do for it. I have had to change last minute from doing Soviet propaganda as I would not be able to translate Russian language sources effectively which would be essential for that. Any ideas and advice from you would be greatly appreciated in directing me to develop an interesting, original and practical topic to research.
Should I do something I have already got a lot of knowledge on or go for how interesting it sounds?
Does any of the below catch your eye as a good topic? I'm considering:
Unfortunate Sons: Life as a GI in Vietnam (also considering doing this for soldiers in the First World War) - What was it like? Can compare their experience with other wars - look at who they were (more minorities etc.). If the hippie movement had some justification in calling them all war criminals. Was racism towards the Vietnamese prolific - lots of primary sources for this
Is this suitable for a dissertation topic?? would this be too descriptive, without an argument from a certain angle? Would doing 'life in the trenches' be better?
I'm Also very interested in Ideology in History. For example, the ideas of Egality Liberty and Brotherhood from the French Revolution but I don't know where to start in terms of writing up a title. There would again be the language issue although I do speak some French. Could look at Nationalism in Italian unification or Germany in WW2.
Analysing success and failure of communism in Barcelona in 1936 and comparing it with communism elsewhere? would love to do this but is it way too complex and broad? Also I don't speak Spanish
Another Idea is the Cultural Influences the British Empire had on the World. Examples could be used to analyse what these were and how much it changed in a particular region. Thinking a part of India for this
Thank you so much for reading. I know this is a lot of questions but its good to have opinions on what other students find interesting and think would be suitable for a 10000 word dissertation.
tl;dr I have all of human history, what do I pick!! Any ideas for? : Life of a soldier in Vietnam/ww1? Something to do with an ideology, Communism in Barcelona 1936? British Empire influences in a particular region?
I'm not asking for answers just advice on historical topics. Kind Regards,
A panicing uni student

How significant was it? How much did it affect Brazil, and does it continue to do so? Lastly, could anybody provide me with some good books or other sources that discuss this topic? Thanks very much.
Even if you can't answer the question but could point me in a direction to read about it, that would be awesome too!

I'm reading about all the Ivy League Universities that many of the founding fathers attended and I was wondering how these universities knew if they were qualified or not. For example, Alexander Hamilton attended Columbia University, but he had recently immigrated from a Caribbean island. How did that work? How did Columbia know that he was Ivy League material?

The major rebellions in Roman history are well-known, like Spartacus and the slave revolts, the Jewish rebellions, and Boudica's uprising.
After reading about James Scott's work on "everyday resistance" (sabotage, arson, desertion, smuggling, slander, etc.), I've become more interested in the less obvious manifestations of resistance in the Roman Empire. Has anyone written on this?

Is this simply due to the end of the Cold War, or are there other factors? (For example, in Africa coups have reduced partly because there has been a concerted diplomatic effort for African states to agree not to recognise governments which come to power by coups, regardless of what they may have thought of the previous regime. But I don't know if South America has had a similar agreement. And that's just one factor anyway.)

I would have thought that they wouldn’t bother with archery because they primarily fight mounted and European terrain generally did not favor mounted archery, that and their armor might limit their archery capacity, but I could be wrong

Now, I know more about WW2 than the Cold War so bear with me, In Korea, there was a UN coalition, if I'm not mistaken. But I've never read anything about a UN force in Vietnam. I understand why there wasn't any help later in the war but why didn't any other nation send troops to Vietnam?
