Why weren't moving covers used in The First World War

Wouldn't a collection of thick and wide mobile shields or walls that would serve as moving cover for a squad be useful to help troops advance until they were in an effective range to lob grenades at machine gunners or engage/charge their enemies? Like, huge thick plates of steel with wheels pushed forward until troops could more easily assault enemy trenches.

I kind of wanna know what would have made this concept fail or why the idea never took off.

Were there any conspiracy theories about the assassination of the archduke Franz Ferdinand?

JFK has tons of conspiracies, but what about FF? Were there any theories at the time that went against the official story or who might be behind it? Maybe even to jump start a war with Serbia? And are there any "alternative" theories about the event nowadays?

Was Charles XII a general comparable to the duke of Wellington?

Charles has always stood out to me as a very good general, look no further then the battle of narva for this, but he always seems to get overlooked in the conversation of great generals. I'm talking from a strictly military point of view as he was obviously politically inept and had his fair share of problems(giving Russia the chance to recoup after the battle of narva), but speaking on a battle by battle basis could he be considered up there with a man who barely but did beat napoleon in open battle? I chose Wellington because in my opinion you napoleon was a better general than both Charles and Wellington.

What is the most comprehensive work about the druids?

I'm looking for something that doesn't take Julias Cesar's account at face value, but juxtaposes it against arachaeological evidence and the medieval period Irish mythology manuscripts. And whatever other sources might be out there for how the druids functioned as a political unit.

Preferably I'd like something that was published in the last 5 or so years.

Sorry if just asking for sources without a specific inquiry is against the rules.

The Olmecs, the Mayans, and many other pre-Columbus cultures in Central and South America had writing. Do we still have access to that writing? What did they record? Do we have indigenous records of the Spanish Conquest, or the plagues that immediately proceeded it?

Or political records of what happened before the Europeans arrived? I understand this is a broad question. I just realized I knew that the Mayans and the Olmecs had writing, but knew nothing about what they were writing.

How did the stereotype of incest in the American South become prevalent?

I live very North of Alabama, and my co-workers were discussing the Senate seat there and how most of the population is inbred.

I've never been to Alabama, but it appears to be a functioning state and hasn't completely collapsed due to everyone being physically and mentally deficient, so I'm not sure how accurate that inbreeding thing is.

Was this stereotype based in any truth, and how did it become so widespread?

Both believe in at least three worlds preceding this one, and both prophesied the arrival of a white man, and the languages are related. Were they in contact at all?
