To put this post in perspective, a pastor from a church my family attends recently said "the Reformation caused the Crusades". This sounded horribly misinformed to me, but my knowledge of medieval history isn't really enough to articulate why this is wrong.
I'm wanting to write this person a letter explaining why he was wrong (he might not be but just if he was) and give him credible sources so he can learn something as well.
I apologize if something along these lines has been answered before in advance (and for any formatting issues, I've never posted on here before) Thanks :)

I saw a history channel show about the mysterious sea peoples. What is the real story behind them? Did they really cause the fall of the Egyptian empire or is that some ancient aliens level information?

The age group in which people died the most in the medieval era was childhood, what were the main causes of childhood mortality (regardless of region), and what could a family have done to maximize their children's chances of survival?

Additionally, if there weren't, in fact, substantially more Italians than say, Poles or Germans, why, then, is the image of the stereotypical Italian family in New York so ubiquitous?

I'm interested in Lincoln as a war leader, and his evolution from early in the war to late in the war. I was hoping someone could point me to places where I might read in full or in part conversations Lincoln had with his Generals over wartime strategy.
I'm hoping perhaps there were meetings where minutes were kept, or secretaries which transcribed meetings verbatim, or even just summaries written in diaries afterwards.
Thanks.

The country's name in English is "the State of Israel." "State" is a bit unusual- why not "Republic" or something like that? And were any names other than Israel ever given serious consideration? "Zion" seems kind of natural, given the Zionist idea that promoted the country's formation.

Hello, I have been searching for a lot of time about meaning of this insignia. I saw it at memorial of czechoslovak paratroopers in Prague, which killed Heidrich during ww2. Can you tell me who uses/used it? Thank you very much!

I don't know if this is true, but I've read that in general, back then sailors would drink effectively alcohol either through beer or wine to quench their thirst, and water was mostly rationed since they'd have to stock up before the journey and after they make port somewhere. With only those highest in command having the privilege of drinking water while the sailors drank the wine.
Now if this were true, how did Islamic sailors deal with no or limited water on board when they were voyaging at sea? Alcohol is strictly prohibited so has there been any documentation in the last 1000+ years that details what they did during those days?

For example, Romania gained the entirety of Partium (the most western part of Transylvania), which had a pretty big Hungarian majority. Same with Southern Slovakia. I mean in the Treaty of Trianon.

More specifically, how free was life in pre-Stalin USSR? I've heard a lot of people say that Stalin was the one who "ruined" communism by turning Russia into a police state, but was it any better before him?

In reality slavery has existed long before America was even dreamed of, and still exists in other countries, so why do both our society and education system pretend that black people are the only ones who have ever been enslaved?

I'm not sure if this is the forum for this, but recently started watching designated survivor, the TV show. If a cabinet member or secretary of state was foreign born and then had to be sworn in the event of something like what happened on the show, would it be in violation of the constitution? Would it even be allowed?
