Any info on this? The exact date, or month, when the Red Army entered the city of Lukow, Poland?

I was reading up on Nicholas II, and I keep finding references to the silk imperial crown is this blurb.
"The Silk Imperial Crown Of Russia was used, as an official coronation gift of the Russian Empire. Nicholas II was the first and only monarch to be presented with such a monumental coronation gift. It was not intended as ceremonial regalia, but as private Imperial property, a memento to his Coronation Event."
The only other thing I can find is a photo of the box it was presented in. Are there ant descriptions of what the object looks like or any photos of it?

How common were misspelling and other writing errors in historical documents?
I am aware that the complimentary goods used to create texts were expensive at some points in history especially before the printing press.
Also the way english was spelled in the 18th century, any explaination?

I've always wondered how such a seemingly logistical nightmare would be accomplished in these times.
The reason I ask for the late middle ages/renaissance has to do with me wanting to create a mod simulating POW returns in a video game I play.
Thanks in advance.

The semantic differences between "black but beautiful" and "black and beautiful" seem to be really important to me, and although most editions (http://biblehub.com/songs/1-5.htm) give some form of contrasting conjunction, I read recently in "Black Legacies: Race and the European Middle Ages" by Lynn Ramey that the original Hebrew is more closely translated as 'and,' and that the translation 'but' started with Jerome's Vulgate (nigra sum sed formosa). I don't know Hebrew at all, so I'm curious as to why the discrepancy? And if it was a mistranslation by Jerome, why is it maintained in so many contemporary versions?

This may sound stupid, but why did America get involved in Operation Overlord in the first place? Was it just because Hitler had taken France and the Allies needed Americas military power to regain control? English is not my first language, so finding relevant articles isn't always as easy either. So if anyone has any good articles on this, that would be appreciated :)

Recently read an author who claimed that allied air superiority essentially kept the Germans too frightened to commit their armored units onto the beach. He never actually cited anything for it, is there any truth in that statement?

The 90s seem like they were a pretty terrible time in Russia--the economy crashed and Russia lost its international influence and prestige. Were many Russians nostalgic for the days of the Soviet union? How did the new government maintain control--is there evidence that the elections were rigged? Or was there some benefit to the reforms during the nineties which made the new government enjoy popular support in spite of the terrible economy?

I've found that Henry Webb in Elizabethan Military Science claims Elizabeth's army had similar issues due to corrupt justices of the peace, bribed recruiters, and a negative attitude towards soldiery in general. Was this the continuation of an issue that had existed throughout the middle ages, or was it something new to the early modern period?

Given that Apartheid was never really something I was taught much about, I'd always assumed that it was brought down due to the work of people like Mandela, and the international anti-apartheid movement.
However I was recently reading up on it and found that there are a lot of historians of the belief that it was the collapse of communism that led to the end of apartheid - most of the ones I've read seem to suggest that the fall of communism meant that the Apartheid regime could no longer justify its own existence as an anti communist system.
How accurate are these claims?
Did the Apartheid regime really paint itself as anti communist rather than as white supremacy?
Was the role of people like Mandela really that important to ending the regime as pop culture paints him as?
How did Whites in South Africa react to the fall of communism?
Thanks.

I have recently read Marios Costambeys' "The Carolingian World" and enjoyed it thoroughly, and right now I am finishing Joachim Whaley's "Germany And The Holy Roman Empire" and, while it is a difficult read, I find it very informative
Between those two books however, I am missing a big part of how East Francia as it was after the Treaty of Verdun at the end of the Carolingian Dynasty eventually became the amalgam of states that is the Reich that Maximilian I reigned over.
"The Caroligian World" ends its narrative around the year 900 and "Germany and The Holy Roman Empire" picks up around 1400, leaving out the entire high middle age
Are there any good academic books I could read that cover this period?
Thanks in advance
