Some names have a translatable versions in other languages like jose and joe. But Peter Paul and the other followers names change so Europeans would relate better the Christianity.

How did it impact the United States? What changed because of this economically, socially, etc? Why did this mainly affect the west/southwest areas of America?

I have always been intrigued by the odd phrasing and was wondering if there was significance to it, or if it was some translation oddity..

I recently was listening to an audio book on the ancient world, and had never really clocked that the Seleucids were named after a bloke called Seleuc, which sounds a lot like Seljuk.

The Germans were known as devout Arians since at least 2nd century. Some Roman generals were known as Arians in the 4th century. But somehow in 9th century we already have Charlemagne's rule blessed by Pope Leo III, the Nicene orthodoxy.

How did Arianism disappear from European religious landscape?

Wikipedia's page on Arianism doesn't seem to be that useful; it only has this short passage,

By the beginning of the 8th century, these kingdoms had either been conquered by Nicene neighbors (Ostrogoths, Vandals, Burgundians) or their rulers had accepted Nicene Christianity (Visigoths, Lombards).

What was the process that lead to the eventual disappearance of Arianism? Why did the Ostrogoths, Vandals, Burgundians, Visigoths, Lombards not find Arianism that appealing?

Was it recognized as the ground-breaking event that it was? Was it met with skepticism given the fact that nobody had achieved controlled, powered flight before? Was the development of aircraft technology immediately jump-started, or was there a lag?

Learned last night that George V, Wilhelm II, and Nicolas II were all first cousins whose families would often vacation together and come together for events. What language did they speak? German? Or did they have interpreters?

Given the race-specific genocide, I would imagine some Jews relating it to the end of the world mentioned in the Torah.

My question relates to the idea that perhaps they were mindful that the narrative of war would be more easily disputed when there was documentation of the aftermath.

I simply cannot imagine Italian cuisine without tomatoes, or British cuisine without their beloved potato, or even Asia without chilli. I've read a little about Roman cuisine in Apicius, but other than that, I'm completely clueless.

I've heard some claims that African-American slaves in the US, having converted to Christianity, ascribed huge symbolic importance within their religious communities to the Exodus narrative, due to the obvious similarities of a people in slavery in a foreign land, and slave preachers would regularly liken themselves to Moses and the Israelites.

This seems an interesting topic, and obviously it fits very well with MLK's "Promised Land" speech just before his death, so I was wondering if there was anyone here who could tell me if the claim is accurate, and if so, give a bit more detail about it?
