Are there any textbooks covering Eastern European conflicts during the interwar period?

I've been fascinated by conflicts like the Polish-Soviet War of 1919-1920 and the earlier Polish-Ukrainian War of 1918-1919. I'm curious if anyone here knows of historic texts that discuss the political and military situations surrounding these conflicts and how they played into the national identities of Eastern Europe

Was this always a stereotype? I remember reading somewhere that before the rise of Prussia, Germans were considered disorderly and almost barbaric.

Was the Internet originally intended to be a military or civilian space?

I came across this quote from Julian Assange's book Cyberpunks: Freedom & the Future of the Internet in Wages of Rebellion by Chris Hedges:

"...the internet, which was supposed to be a civilian space, has become a militarized space." link

Is it true that the Internet was "supposed to be a civilian space"?

Why did Native American diseases not have the same effect on Europeans as European diseases did on them?

It's taught in schools that one of the major problems Native Americans faced with the influx of Europeans was disease. The illnesses were of little consequence to Europeans due to adjusted immune systems, but it seems life the reverse was not true.

Is this just a matter of the victor writing the books, or were there not catastrophic diseases passed from the natives to European settlers?

How fast did news of political developments travel around Roman territory?

Suppose it's the year 53 BCE. I'm a legionary serving under Julius Caesar in Gaul. Crassus was just defeated at Carrhae. How would a messenger spread the word that he was defeated and killed? How long would it take news to spread from the political leaders to the far away legions and the average citizen?

What were some of the weapons used in the Battle of Belleau Wood?

I understand the general use of machine guns, rifles, and poison gas, but I haven't been able to find any specific weapons that were used other than the Springfield 1903 Rifle, the hotchkiss machine gun, and the Chautchat machine gun^1. Does anyone have any ideas of weapons that the German soldiers would have been using during the defense of belleau wood? Or any other weapons that used during the battle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Comparison on Historicity of Jesus

Hi, you have a great subreddit here. I've browsed the FAQ looking for an answer to my question, but haven't quite found what I'm after. From the FAQ, it is very obvious that there is sufficient evidence to believe that Jesus existed.

What I'd like to ask is, to whom would you compare our level of certainty about Jesus? For example, do we have better evidence for Jesus' existence than for Plato? Caesar? Alexander? The Buddha?

I've found that people seem to want a comparison point, where if they're willing to believe that so-and-so existed, then they really should believe Jesus existed. This would certainly help me understand the context of the evidence better. Thanks!

Questions about Eastern Roman agriculture/economy

I'm trying to get a feel for how institutions changed during the rise of Islam, so let's say circa 600, but I'll take what I can get.

  1. Egypt is described as the breadbasket of the empire, and massive exports of grain from Egypt to the capital are referenced. Was this grain bought/traded for, sent as payment on a tax, produced on imperial estates or what?
  2. I'm an imaginary "typical" farmer near Alexandria. Who owns the land I farm? Am I share cropper, wage laborer, serf, or slave?
  3. I'm a merchant in Alexandria. Do I pay taxes? What kind of taxes (poll tax, tax on land ownership, tariffs)? If I have a contract dispute, how would I go about taking it to court?
