How accurate, topographically speaking, was the Chernobyl level in CoD 4?

In Call of Duty 4: modern Warfare, two of the missions are set in Pripyat in 1996. The missions are "All Ghillied Up" and "One Shot, One Kill". I had assumed that the level designers had taken a large amount of liberty with the leve;s, but the recent footage from the drone sent into Pripyat makes me think it was more accurate than I had assumed. Do we have any maps, comparisons or living accounts of how accurate the levels are compared to real Pripyat?

How is British history so well documented?

I am studying the economic history of India (or South Asia) in my free time, and have found that Indian history is poorly documented when compared to British history, at the same time.

What are the conditions/events that led the British to meticulously document their times?

Please point me toward readings and books for non-historians.

Historians, could you explain how the Chinese Xuanfeng (Whirlwind) catapults were used in sieges?

I would also greatly appreciate any explanation of the firing mechanism for the device as well, as any depictions I have found fail to show it 'in action'. Does it spin 360°, or rotate only prior to firing?
