I'd like to learn more about Baker's views on racial discrimination in the US - and/or France if possible -; on her activism; or more generally on her relationship to her home country. Thanks!

My dad recommended this book to me, calling it an excellent book to understanding American history. However, when I looked online to find out more about it, people were calling it dated, biased, and leaving out important chapters of American history. For those who have read it, would you say it's a worthy book for someone trying to learn more about the United States, and if not, would you mind explaining why? Thank you!

I am researching about the American War of Independence, and starting to research for a project of mine. One thing I have been wondering about is PTSD in the American Revolution. I mean, we have accounts of it dating back to Marathon, so there has to be evidence of it in this war. I am focusing more on accounts in camp and on the front, but post-war will also be of help.

I'm looking for information on Romanian use of Polish vehicles during the war. Specifically the 7TP tank.

The Romanians were known to use captured vehicles. Or rather next to anything they could get their hands on due to their lack of modern tanks. I can confirm that Polish armoured cars and the TKS tankette (as an artillery tractor) were fielded. After the Invasion of Poland 7TP tanks were driven into Romania (and the Soviet Union) to escape capture, but after that I can't find further information on what happened to them.

Were they likely scrapped, used for internal security duties or something else? The Romanians used the similar Soviet T-26 tank extensively, so the 7TP doesn't seem much of a stretch to use. Though as did they use such a variety of tanks that they had problems with replacement parts. That they apparently used Odessa "tanks" kind of makes me think they'd take every opportunity at sourcing armoured vehicles, but that's not a guarantee.

I need some information to show a bigot, racist, and just unfortunate human being the true breadth of the Holocaust.

I would consider myself an educated person, and I have a particular fascination with the macabre. Particularly, I’m fascinated with the Holocaust and genocides in general. I’ve studied for years, I’ve visited Sachsenhausen, seen the killing fields in Cambodia, etc etc. I KNOW, as does most of the world, that the Jewish Holocaust was a very real thing.

I have a surface level relationship with an individual who is what I would consider a Holocaust denier and antisemite.

He doesn’t argue with the fact that Jews were systematically rounded up, but balks at the “6 million” figure and systematic extermination portion.

His two biggest points are:

• census records do not support such a figure. There weren’t even 6 million Jews in occupied areas that could have been killed. To my understanding, there were appx 3+ million Jews in Poland alone, of which ~90% were murdered.

• of the large amounts of Jews that WERE killed, it wasn’t due to systematic extermination, but disease and starvation. He seems to give himself an out here by arguing the Germans were so focused on just winning the war and for their own people, that the starvation/disease was just an unfortunate consequence of supply lines being cutoff.

I know that I should already be well-educated to these specific points, but alas I am not Reddit.

How did Polish soldiers get to the other side of Europe with Germany in the way and make it to Great Britain when Poland capitulated?

I was looking into the educational attainment of the presidents and I was shocked to see that the last president to have never attained a college degree was Harry S. Truman, president from 1945-1953. The 1950s seem like a time when Americans would expect people in positions of power to hold advanced degrees, I cant imagine voting for someone without a college education today. Was this issue ever addressed when he faced candidate Thomas E. Dewey who had a law degree from an ivy league university?

My daughter has been learning about the Holocaust at school, and asked why Hitler believed that the Aryan race of blonde hair and blue eyed people were superior, despite the fact that he was brown hair brown eyed. I have searched this on Google with no success, and her teacher didn’t know either. Hoping someone will have the answer here!

My father told me the other night that my aunt made a DNA connection that tied out lineage to Gilbert Marshal, 4th Earl of Pembroke's illegitimate daughter Isabel. I cannot find much about her other than she was supposedly betrothed but I cannot find if she ever married? Many of the articles I find say that Gilbert was childless.
