Was the Ottoman penchant for alcohol restricted to Anatolia and Eastern Europe or did it also extend to North Africa, Levant and Arabia?

Was wine/beer drinking and production a common occurrence throughout the empire?

Did this conflict with the supposed pious foundation the Ottomans held?

It seems like their expansion pretty much stopped at the subcontinent. Was it a matter of logistics? Too costly? Or was India simply to powerful to be subjugated?

After the fall of the W.roman empire many germanic tribes from Germania (more precisely from north west of Danube and east of Rhine) and Scandinavia came south and settled down in Spain(Visigoths), France(mainly franks), Italy(the lombards) and even some sailed to southern Britannia (hence the name Anglo-saxon).

now as far as my knowledge of history goes the English are considered germanic and so is most of central and northern Europe then. Now we know that at least the franks were now conquered by another non-german tribe, so what changed that the french and spanish were not german all of a sudden

Quite some time ago I began reading a book called "Rise and Kill First" by Ronen Bergman about Israeli special services but I stopped reading it because I felt that I am missing the historical background and context of things written in that book. While I have read extensively about British policies towards Palestine, I have never really gotten around to reading about the history of Israel itself and onwards after the creation of Israeli state even though it is an extremely important aspect in the history of Cold War.

So to fill this blank spot I have I am trying to find a good book on the Israeli history, preferably as unbiased as possible but I am struggling to find anything appropriate and fitting. Also I don't know any of the authors writing about this topic and I fear picking an author who might have an overly big bias. So any suggestions would be very appreciated!

I was wondering whether the typical Middle ages haircut (longer on top and trimmed close to the hears, for some examples check the movie "The King" on Netflix) had some sort of functional purpose or was just some trendy fashion choice.

I was thinking about it because in Middle ages everything done had a specific goal or purpose, but I don't see anything functional in this haircut.
