If an inscription was found in a temple, for example, and it was an ancient language, how do historians translate that inscription with any degree of certainty?

Were the Incas aware of the existence of any Amerindian tribe? Like the Tupi-Guaraní or Wayuu people? Or even the Aztec Empire? And if yes, did they ever trade with them? Or perhaps even fought wars with them? If someone can asnwer me i would be happy, and sorry if my english is not that good.

Primarily in sub-Saharan Africa, there are were major conflicts called bush wars (Angolan Bush War, Rhodesian Bush War, Ugandan Bush War, Central African Republic Bush War)
What is the meaning behind the term and what connects these four conflicts?

People seldom discuss what happened to them other than they fled to Canada or Britain, etc. Were there general guidelines of how the continental army should treat them and their properties? Were there any major atrocities on the civilian loyalists committed by the continental army, the militia or patriot civilians?

So once the war ended in Europe, how long did it take for German people to stop being taught the belief system. What happened to the Nazi believers? Once the war ended, were they ostracized from German culture or were they still accepted? Were they rehabillitated or did there exist an underground Nazi culture (excluding those that escaped to South America?)
edit: When I ask when did was it eradicated, I'm asking when did the popular belief that Jews were evil and hated and exterminated end in popular culture? I know it still exists but it's not popular belief or opinion there anymore.

More specifically what kind of folklore on monsters were there and how "seriously" were they taken by people of the time.

My grandfather was conscripted by the Nazis around the end of WWII. He was 16. He did his basic training and was then sent to the Russian front, where his company of 16 year old boys fought for a few months before surrendering (out of food/ammo and war ended) and being taken prisoner. He told me today that before they entered combat, they were ordered to destroy their identification and bury their dogtag. I asked my grandfather "why?" and he told me he did not know! Obviously the discussion was quite sensitive as he reflected on the idea that if he died back then, no one would have known what happened to him. I offered to ask the Internet.... does anyone know why he may have been ordered to destroy all ID before combat?

Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism and even Manichaeism, all made great efforts to spread, they had different levels of success but overall they all survived political changes of different magnitudes and continued to spread, but not Zoroastrianism.
Why?.

Dear historians,
I am working on a project for history and researching the history of Habsburg and French-German enmity. However, when I was reading about how the Habsburg Empire had gotten so big, I stumbled upon something I haven't been able to find an answer to. How come Maximilian the First of Austria was a Holy Roman Emperor, Philip the Handsome wasn't, but then Charles V was? Why? Both Maximilian and Charles V carry the title of Holy Roman Emperor but not one source has mentioned that title in relation to Philip.
I am struggling to find the answer and it's ruining the coherency in my research paper. Please help!
Thanks in advance,
A very desperate history student.

The youtuber, knowingbetter, pointed out that the reason aircraft carriers are seen as so vital in the pacific war is because the US lost most of its battleships at pearl harbor so had to default to carriers for major operations. It made me wonder how the war would have been prosecuted if the navy had its battleships.
