Ronald Reagan lived in California's Governor's Mansion for only 4 months before moving out in 1967. It was then left unoccupied for almost 50 years until Governor Jerry Brown moved in in 2015. So, a few questions: why did Reagan move out, why did Jerry Brown decide not to live there after succeeding Reagan in 1975, why did Brown decide to live there decades later during his second stint, and why did other governors avoid living there?

Java is home to the largest Buddhist temple in the world. This means that Buddhism obviously had some pretty serious backing at some point in history. However, most of Indonesia is now Muslim, and Bali, often seen as the refuge of Majapahit tradition, seems very firmly Hindu. So where did Buddhism go? How did a religion that once had large temples erected in its honour seemingly vanish?

I'm currently reading Juan Cole's new book on Muhammad and I got to the part about the Treaty of Hudaibiya and the fact that the pagans and the Muslims are arguing over the exact words to be written in the treaty. What significance did writing have to a mostly illiterate people like that? It's not as if there was a third party guarantor that either the Muslims or the pagans could've taken the document to. So what was the actual utility (social, cultural, etc) in crafting a written treaty as opposed to an oral agreement?

According to history class Britain went to war with Germany because of a treaty Britain had with Belgium, saying they would protect Belgium's neutrality. Germany invaded Belgium, and Britain hence declared war with Germany. But this to me doesn't make much sense, as from what I've read these treaties/alliances were not concrete promises and were very loose and malleable (Britain could have easily dropped out and not gone to war, this 80 year old treaty wasn't forcing them to do anything), and I am unsure of why Britain would want to protect Belgium so much that they would go to war with a strong country.
Because of this I assume Britain went to war with Germany for other reasons, so what are these reasons?

Fresh olives are vile and you have to be really bored or accept a dare to eat one
So how did they figure out that if they let them sit in brine for a couple months that they would become edible?
Was it a lucky extra from making olive oil?

Or was the evolution there from the start, and it just didn't stop?
What happened?
Ninja edit: Not sure if the question is about India...might wanna check the automatic flair in this case.

I noticed that the two are pronounced very similarly:

The question is inspired by Mark 16, where the women come to Jesus's tomb "at the rising of the sun," and are then told "he is risen." If this is a possible pun, is it used elsewhere in ancient Greek literature?

I am curious to know. I observed that some Japanese words sound rather… Nigerian. Western Nigerian especially. I haven't noticed this with any other foreign language.
I know that this is a reach but I have heard words like Fuji and Fuku. There are a lot more Japanese words but these are the ones I can remember. I mean, these are Japanese names: Aina, Fumi and Chika.
Names like Akinfenwa or Osa could be mistaken for Japanese.
Ancient Tokyo was also called Edo, which is the name of a tribe in Nigeria.
This quote comes from a forum post on Nairaland detailing the similarities in language.

Youtuber - Trey the Explainer reports on the findings that the indigenious people of Japan are most likely distant descendants of a West African tribe that escaped Africa 50,000-70,000 years ago.
Does anyone have more information or maybe a theory regarding this?

I recently bought the red variant of this outfit (not wine red) for Halloween and I was hoping to figure out when this style was popular. I was thinking late 1600s or early 1700s. Am I correct, or is it some other time period?
