I have read and watched videos which claimed that British policies during WW2 was partly or fully responsible for the famine in India, one of many examples was the scorched earth policy in case an invasion from the Japanese. The reporting of the famine was also censored in Britain during the war. How responsible were the British in causing the famine and why would Churchill do such a thing?

I know there was a huge decrease in population, but did it have any other significant effects on culture and society?

I've been reading a bit on Wikipedia about the Arab Revolt and watching the Great War series on Youtube; and I started to feel that the revolt was a Hejazi or Hashemite Revolt than a complete nationalistic revolt by all Arabs. In Iraq, Baghdad is captured by the British months before Aqaba, and there are no uprisings, that I know of, which attack the Ottoman troops. In the west, it was more of a slow push from south to north, and the Arabs in big population centers like Damascus or Aleppo did not rise up to join the revolt before the British and Hashemite forces actually captured the cities. To me, it feels like the cause of the revolt was the ambitions of Sharif Hussein and his dislike of the Ottomans rather than a nationalistic sentiment in Arabs, and the nationalistic part of revolt is more a propaganda to increase its legitimacy.
What are the historians thoughts about the revolt? Am I wrong in my assessment and did the Arabs from the rest of the Empire actually join the revolt in a nationalistic goal to create an independent Arabia?

I was wondering if it is true that anti-semitic propaganda became increasingly common after the fall of Stalingrad and when defeat was becoming increasingly plausible. If this was the case, I was wondering why that may be the case and if this had any effect on the public. Furthermore, were there any other recurring themes in German propaganda that were prominent nearing the end of the war?

I am from/in Mexico and , to our shame and demerit, we failed to provide sanctuary to Trotsky after he was exiled by Joseph Stalin's forces in Soviet Russia.
Now, I understand that Mexico was sympathetic to communism and spceifically sympathetic to Trotsky, believe you me, I know this very well.
My question is, out of all the places in the world, why specifically Mexico? it does not appear he had been here before, nor that he had major dealings with any of the prominent figures at the time, so I am left a bit confused as to why this was his choice.

There were property requirements, but also these were for hoplites, and I speak for the skirmishers. These men were very poor (at least the slingers) but then, if the drafting is with those who have enough property, how can there be others who do not employ it? Was the draft larger than simply "those who can afford a shield and a helmet"? There were mercenaries after all, so maybe the draft was indeed larger than simply those who can afford shield and helmet.

are the Dhammapada or the Upanishads the best east philosophy works out there and which one has the better message? another anon said to understand the Dhammapada you need to read the Pali Canon and the Mahayana sutras or you are not grasping the philosophy behind the sayings. For the Upanishads if you don’t read the Vedas and Puranas you will not understand it.

I recently discovered my wife has a massive gap in her education around World War II. I am determined to help bring her up to speed on what happened through movies. Documentaries won't hold her attention. Our starting point is "The Darkest Hour", which will be followed by "Dunkirk".
How do we get through the whole war only using movies?
Can I kindly get a few suggestions on what you would suggest as a natural progression through the war with some level of historical accuracy?
Any and all suggestions are much appreciated.
