My friends and I run a discord server rife with historically inspired memes and recently my friend was talking about the ties between futurism as an art movement and Italian fascism. How closely tied together were they? Did one inspire the other? Would also appreciate a good in-depth explanation of futurism as a belief system.

I am reading up on Rhodesia and the Rhodesian Bush War. After reading the writeup from the Pearce Commission, it seems like the black populace of Rhodesia was opposed to the Proposal. Unless I am mistaken, it seems like the Proposal clauses were designed to reduce racism and give the black population a stronger voice in the government. The commission was obviously interested in getting an unbiased opinion from everyone who wanted to give one, so why was the answer no?

Initially, it makes perfect sense. India is a vast country after all. However, when you come to think of it, its film industry disproportionate to its size. Bollywood dominates the Middle East and the former USSR and all throughout south and Central Asia and even into Africa. India similarly is an impoverished, parochial country isolated by British colonization, but even under the British, Bollywood managed to start itself off. China, an even larger country than India and surely significantly wealthier and coming from a similar place, doesn't have anything approaching that kind of influence in its movie industry. Why has Bollywood captivated us so much?

It just seems strange that despite the seemingly rebellious nature of kids there didn’t seem to be that much opposition to the Youth.

Languages evolve over time. The modern English we speak today is vastly different from the old English of a thousand years ago, and a thousand years before that people were speaking classical Latin. Ancient Egypt existed for nearly 3000 years, so their language must have evolved in that time. How did hieroglyphs change over time? Or did they stay relatively consistent?

How did one become an artist/playwright during Edo Era Japan. I have heard many of the classics of Heian Era were written by the court itself (I could be totally wrong on that), did Tokugawa Japan differ?

Besides being trained in drill, marching, and marksmanship, what kind of training did 18th century soldiers receive? Was there much, if any, emphasis on physical training/exercise as there is in today's militaries?

Will I meet other soldiers? How will the locals react? Is someone trying to capture me? What happens when I get captured?

Like speeches from the major power leaders (Hitler, Churchill, Roosevelt etc.)
I want the students to compare them so that they can see how the different leaders addressed the public, and their type of rhetoric.

While we point to Hitler's Germany and Mussolini's Italy as examples of Fascism, how did they refer to their own governments? Or did they not consider 'Fascism' a pejorative?
Inversely, did they refer to the US and Britain as "Democracies"? Or something else?

In "Hue 1968" by Bowden, he mentions that these tanks were some of the most useful weapons in the battle, but doesn't give any additional information. What model of tank were these? Why were so so useful?

Something I always wondered about Pacific conflict in WW2. Traditional story is that Japan saw America as the major threat, and with the oil embargo/asset freezing knew their great power dreams were eroding. The solution to this was to declare war on the U.S., destroy their fleet(s), boot out the allies, consolidate their gains and then sue for peace thereby regaining trading rights and becoming the preeminent Pacific Power.
Couldn't they have instead declared War on the Commonwealth/Dutch and gained their needed resources that way? (oil in Indonesia I believe, etc...) Or did they see that as strategically untenable due to that approach leaving them wide open to an American attack?

A buddy of mine is trying to write a paper about the Marian reforms of the Roman times. We were in the library for awhile, but our University lacked the resources or information we were looking for. Is there anyone here who can provide primary sources for the Marian reforms.

Before the creation of China and Japan, were they once a singular people that eventually went separate ways? Or did the societies come to be completely independent of each other?
